The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to the United States, commemorating the friendship between the two nations and celebrating the ideals of liberty and freedom that had shaped the American republic. Most Americans affectionately call her Lady Liberty. I rather like her formal French name, Liberty Enlightening the World. To me, it speaks prophetically of what I believe is one of America's great roles - to be a beacon of liberty, freedom and hope to the world. I understand that's a weighty responsibility; wherever people stand for good and uphold strong moral values, there will be forces seeking to tear them down. I had been photographing America because I felt a direct calling from God to capture the beauty of this remarkable nation and, through my images, to remind Americans how blessed they are. While visiting New York, I wanted to photograph this iconic symbol of freedom. It is the only city skyline I photographed during my travels through all 50 states of America. In the foreground Lady Liberty stands proudly against the New York skyline. Rising prominently in the background are the twin towers of the World Trade Centre. When officially opened in 1973, they were the tallest buildings in the world. On September 11, 2001, hijacked commercial airliners were deliberately flown into both towers. Those who witnessed the horrifying scenes of that day will always remember the images and emotions. When I received an early morning phone call about a catastrophe unfolding in New York, I turned on the television to scenes of utter chaos. The first plane had already crashed into the North Tower and commentators were struggling to make sense of the events. Then, as I watched live TV coverage, a second plane flew into the South Tower. My first American book, America Wide - In God We Trust, was launched just days before these horrific events. I hope, in some small way, that book reminded people what an extraordinary country America is and of the freedoms and blessings they possess. Attacks come, tragedies occur, darkness threatens to overwhelm us. But faith in God gives us strength to endure. Shine the torch of Liberty brightly, for light always overcomes darkness in the end.

Your Premium Edition Print

Each print in this category is individually titled, numbered and signed, and there is a limit to the number of prints available in each edition. For example, the number of the print you purchase may be expressed as 143/300. This is Ken’s guarantee that your print is the only print numbered 143 in an edition of a maximum of 300 prints, worldwide. While some other photographers may offer various editions of the same image in a range of sizes, Ken believes for optimum collectability, there should be only one Edition for each image.
Production & Framing
How is your Artwork Produced?
Attention to detail and quality of workmanship is what makes a Ken Duncan Artwork truly special. Your Ken Duncan Print will be created using the finest archival materials and processes to ensure the integrity of your artwork for generations to come. It will be printed on Hahnemuhle Fine Art paper using Epson Ultrachrome inks for maximum stability, then signed and numbered. Your Artwork will then be sprayed with Hahnemuhle UV matt varnish to maintain the surface integrity and protect against fading.
How is your Artwork Framed?
Your Ken Duncan Print will be expertly framed with your choice of sustainable timber frame. Then it will be finished with lightweight, optically clear, museum grade acrylic which offers 95% protection against UV rays. It will undergo one final inspection, before being securely packed for shipping. If your print is not being framed, it will be carefully rolled with cotton interleave and placed into a cylinder for delivery.

How do you care for your artwork?
You should gently dust the frame or acrylic face of your print on a regular basis with a clean microfiber cleaning cloth. Avoid using glass cleaners or other liquids. If there are any marks on the outside surface, dampen one corner of the microfiber cloth slightly and rub very gently until the mark disappears.

Because prints for U.S. collectors are supplied unframed, you have complete freedom to choose custom moulding, matting, and glazing locally that perfectly complements your home or office décor. We recommend choosing warm, directional domestic or gallery track lighting to bring out the rich tonal depth of the archival print.

Your Ken Duncan artwork is custom printed and prepared to order. Despatch of your print will typically take 1 to 2 weeks from the time you place your order, allowing for master printing, inspection, signing/numbering, and secure cylinder packing.
The price of your print includes insured delivery to all 50 U.S. states. As soon as your order is despatched via our tracked U.S. freight carrier, you will receive an email with your tracking number so you can track its progress.
